What makes twitter special?

This is an entry for the (@mydala in twitter) http://www.mydala.com/ ‘s "Mydala Bloggers' Contest"

We are in a flat world, a global village; humans are no more separated by Line of Control (imaginary drawn by authorities) between countries, to interact with each other. To make communication simple, we have social networking sites like Orkut, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc for people to interact. “What makes twitter special?” I am gonna put forth my views.

I like the agenda of Twitter, its neat and simple – “What are you doing?”

I feel like I am a leader and I have followers who follow me :-)

I need not call/text my friends and say, “hey dude, I am gonna do this at this time”, one tweet is the perfect solution for my needs.

You will find crazy trending topics like #badromance #worstfeeling #dietalk #mydala #2wordsaftersex etc... which you won't find anywhere :-)

You gotta add new words in your vocabulary like Tweeple (a twitter people), Twitterverse (Twitter Universe) etc... which anyways will not increase your GRE, TOEFL score :P

In Twitter, You can protect your tweets and block a person who spams (security feature)

Subscribe to your favorite channels, friends and you can get instant updates on “what’s going on?”

One of the coolest thing in Twitter is all the big companies’ use it for advertising their new products by conducting contests in it. I myself, have won few prizes, “I am feeling lucky” these days.

You get new set of friends according to interests and you can group these Tweeple in lists.

You get chance to interact with actors/actress and other big shots. You name them and they are already Twitterer.

There are 100s of clients like TweetDeck, Tweetie, twitterfeed, Seesmic, Echofon, Gravity which allows you to update you status and receive status of tweeples.

100s of media sharing sites like twitpic, twitgoo, etc allows you to share photos and videos. (Think of yourself as a reporter. LOL)

Twitter is highly addictive.

For ex: see my birthday cake : my roomies have ordered my birthday cake with my twitter id @tam007

...My Love...

My mom introduced her to me when I was 2 years old. Until then she was a complete stranger to me, I liked her from the first meeting. I started to meet her at my terrace everyday. I would say, she is prettiest I have ever seen till date. Her presence made me chill and merry. I used to stare at her for hours but she never felt bad about it. Generally, I used to talk to her, she always listens and smiles without talking a single word. I always wanted to hear words from her mouth but it hasn't happened yet. :( We were good friends, as days passed by I could not resist myself from falling in love with her.

When I did my schooling, she joined me in Chennai. I was shocked to see her in Bangalore when I moved here to work. I thought there was something which bonded us. And I was sure that I will not miss her in my life. I used to search her every day but managed to find her only few times. She is always busy traveling places. Till date I have not told her that I love her. I am afraid to propose her since the number of people who fell in love with her cannot be counted and I have the fear of rejection too.

Can you tell her, that "I Love her" ?

Details of her are given below.

Her name is "The Moon", Ultimate beauty of Earth.

This one is dedicated to my Blog Guru. I hope you like it.

Do leave your comments and critics. It would definitely help me improve.

Effect of Beauty

Today, my college reopens after 2 months of vacation. I was waiting for this day to show off my new Pulsar 200 CC to her. I tried hitting her street few times during the vacation but my bad luck, she went to her native. Our college bus comes to our stop exactly by 7.00 A.M (with mean time of 15 mins.) I got up at 6.00 A.M, took head bath (though I never take bath regularly), sprayed on the “Set Wet Zatak” (very very sexy) spray owned by me for this moment.

Here comes the moment, I started my bike at 6.45 AM and raced like a “Moto GP Racer” towards the bus stop. I noticed her standing; she was dressed in a killing “White Chudidhar” with a red rose placed in her neatly combed hair (looking like an Angel from heaven, only feathers were missing :)). Struck by her beauty, my adrenaline rose to its heights and I started to twist the accelerator to the extent I can. After a while I woke up in Hospital only to notice that I ran over Banana’s skin which crashed my dream and broke my left arm.

Message: So guys please keep you acceleration under control when you see a beautiful girl on streets.

PS: This is just an imagination.

Useless Prayers...

Now it is the time to talk about “Useless Prayers”. I will take you through my personal experience.

Introduction:

Our locality (Saidapet) is well known for its rowdy-ism and my parents thought “our children should be grown in good environment”. So I joined a boarding school to pursue my studies from my 6th grade to HSC. In the earlier days (6th till 8th standard) my Grandma would hire an auto rickshaw from my home to school (costing around Rs. 500/-), to leave us in school after our vacations. I knew it is costly commuting via auto rickshaw and I should cost cut the unwanted expenses. Hence in my 9th std I came up with decision to go to school in government bus. (I don’t know the bus route though)

First Bus Journey:

After my bold decision, my Grandma took me and my younger brother to “Saidapet bus stand” around 0510 hours, in auto rickshaw (This trip would cost around Rs. 25). I and my brother got into a bypass rider and thought it would go via Chengalpet bus stand and we can get down there and board the required connecting bus to school.

But the bus driver stopped in the midst of bypass road, and we were sent down. We don’t know no any place there (in morning 0600 hrs what will we do), no bus/auto rickshaw will be there to get us to Chengalpet bus stop. We were cursing ourselves for the mistake done.

Thankfully, God sent us a bus run by Vivegam Travels (after 10 minutes of wait), which came from some south place to Chengalpet. On seeing 2 small guys alone in bypass road, the driver stopped and boarded us into the bus (I am still thankful to him). And he did not even charge single rupee for the lift. At last we reached Chengalpet bus stop and got the connecting bus to our school and reached safely.

Concept of Useless Prayer:

~ How will bus go to Chengalpet bus stand, when I commute through a Bypass Rider?
~ How can you become a Doctor, when you have joined Engineering College?

Doing nothing or incorrect thing and pleading God is “useless prayer” and your wish will never be accomplished.

Useful Prayer:

* Getting in to a correct bus and praying “God, my journey should be safe
* Preparing well for exam and asking “God, I should get good marks”, etc.

These would be meaningful prayers.

We must give our 100% effort, take right path, and then ask God for his Grace. This would be a valid prayer.

In the absence of …

In the absence of …

Alcohol: There wouldn't be many road accidents.

Corruption: India would definitely be the World Power.

Death: Earth would be full and it would stand still(We could evaluate Darwin's Evolution Theory.)

Humanity: There would be no existence of Homo sapiens
(from the inputs from my friend : Shankar Patil)

Love: Human will go back to Barbarian culture. (But many guys have gone mad because of the same)

Google: Software engineers have to quit their job. (Without Google we would not find solutions for bugs assigned to us :) )

Law: Crime rates would increase drastically. (With Law in position, there are millions of cases pending in our country. Criminals are summoned by the court after their 10th death anniversary. Criminal lives as popular Politian and dies comfortably)

Soft Drinks: We would have enormous amount of fresh water left to quench our thirst. (You need not spend Rs. 12/- for one litre of water)

The above mentioned things are according to my point of view. It may change from person to person.

Please add your thoughts in comments, if you have any.

Memoirs of me : (MOM)

Thought of sharing few events which are still fresh in my mind, things which can be shared with the entire world without damaging my Image (though I may not have a good Image).

First Bad Word:
I and my friends were playing “Marbles game(Goli in Tamil) in streets when I was pursuing my 4th grade in a Nursery school. My friend, I don’t remember his name, had cheated me in the sport, I got angry and scolded him in a bad word for the first time (I don’t remember if I have used bad word before that) and this is higher ranking bad word in Tamil (which I overheard when someone was abusing someone else, few days before).

First Six:
Cricket
is my favorite game and Sachin is my favorite player. In my school days I have always seen people hitting “Six” as heroes. Who in the world will not imagine about doing heroic things??? And I am not an exception; I always want to hit a six. We would constantly play with Cork Ball (brand: Vicky ball) those days. I was failing several times but I did not give up. Got my first six when I was studying 7th grade in ball bowled my senior Karthick, The ball went over the ropes (in fact it was Imaginary line considered as boundary) and I was excited about my first six.

First Crush:
I too had a love story. Men are always fond of women; even after marriage they never stop staring at girls. But there is always a hole in heart of a man in form of first crush/love (until he is conscious enough to remember things). Such a moment happened in my life when I was pursuing my 12th standard, I have seen this girl more than 5 years by then but never had a chance to talk to her. We became friends because of the initiatives from her side. We talked at times and I could not control myself from falling in love.

The worst thing is that my Principal came to know about this Subject. He called me (in person) and said "Look Tamil Selvan, You need to concentrate on your studies, your board exams are fast approaching, prepare well". He also told "You study well, Girls would follow you when you go to college and you can have romance there" (Till date not even a single girl followed me & I got less mark in my HSC exams :( ). Sadly my proposal got rejected too.

First Mobile:
During my college days (2002 AD) mobiles were treated as great gadget to clutch. And people holding mobile are really proud of holding a gadget which allows them to talk when they are on the move. I was doing my first year and am always a gadget freak. I wanted to have a mobile phone. Luckily I saw an advertisement in newspaper that there is a Student plan in BSNL postpaid which suits college students. An idea struck me “Why can’t I tell my uncle that this plan is offered in my college for all the students?” (Actually this is just a plan and I am going to lie to my Uncle). And I lied to him in such a way he got convinced and I got my first mobile gadget “Sony J70”.

Take some time to think of your past (in your busy working schedule or at least in weekends). And rejoice few minutes thinking of moments you have come across in your journey of life.

Let me stop with this otherwise it would be a boring one. To guys who told me about the concept of brevity, I am taking your advice :).

Hope you enjoyed reading. Be good, Do good.
